For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.

  1. Egor F Egbe says

    GOD HEAR US
Reading words like these spring me up like the propeller in space shuttle. My mind begins to wander. Why are so many things not working for me? Are other people going through the disappointments i face?

Then I answer myself again. Huh, do you recall the young man that set himself ablaze in Tunisia, setting up the Arab spring? What of Nigeria’s Dr Orji, the man that safely parked his Nissan Jeep with driver on Third Mainland bridge in a bright morning sun in the pretext of making a phone call only to hurriedly overcome the barricade and plunged head on into the raging lagoon? Two sad scenes that ended in suicide! They both are said to be expressing their frustration at life. But What happened?
I understand they were discontent with life. They could not hold back any longer.

What could have caused this? In Tunisia the suicide of that young man led to a revolution.. the Arab spring.. leading to the toppling of the tight-sitting president of over 20 years. In contrast, in nigeria, Dr Orji has not received a single one-man demonstration against the authority or any organization, of whatever is thought to be the reason for his suicide mission. Only the social media commentators who as usual want to postulate the best he could have done.

So whenever i have a single thought of the way things are resulting to whenever i invest in thought, in kind or in material and lose everything, I just sometimes burst into laughter, praise and worship.

Why? Ah, simple answer! I live in a country where a qualified, registered Medical Doctor could become so frustrated he drives in his own jeep which is so highly priced and coveted, parks it and subdues the bridge barriers and in the brazen eyes of his own driver and passers-by, dives in an Olympic -swimmer manner, head-on onto the dark, dirty, deep waters of the Lagos lagoon and all we hear is 24 hours later, the authorities are still looking for his corpse or remains! Er? No localized demonstrations, no missing of a single meal by any country man, woman, boy or girl reported anywhere in the Nigeria as an aftermath.

So why will i worry so much that all my material investments have all failed?
I know it hurts to hear that Nigeria is in recession. That money up to Forty Nine Million Nigeria Naira could be found UNACCOMPANIED at the airport with no claimant. That over Nine Million American Dollars could be stashed away in a ghetto room in Kaduna, and after being found and made public, a hitherto wellrespected Nigerian could own up and even ask the Authorities to return the idle Millions of Dollars back to him, that he just kept it, being gift items to him by WELL WISHERS!
Maybe these incidents and many more such cases of money in some hands and rooms may have compelled young Dr Orji to commit suicide since he may have been in some financial mess, or something close.

Your ”ten things” article remains a source of solace to me. Plenty of emotional stress has gone simply reading the stuff. Thank you, my daughter, Alheri.

  2. Wonderful Alheri! Right now the bookmark I am using has the verse, “The Lord Himself will fight for you, Just stay calm.” Exodus 14:14 on it. It has been a wonderful reminder of a truth my head knows but my heart sometimes needs to be reminded of.
