Don’t take it Personal, it’s not about you!

Last summer, I had my first working experience ever. I was almost as nervous as I was excited. However, I could not have been more blessed by God. Not only did the parents of a very good friend of mine graciously welcome me to their home, I worked with people who I believe were divinely placed in my life. On my last day at the internship, the associates had a little farewell gathering for the other intern and I. They associates had very lovely words of appreciation and encouragement for me, and there were also tears in abundance. I hear even my boss shed a few tears as well. Even if I doubted, that day I realized that it was purely the Lord who graced with that experience. I really received a lot of love and wisdom at my internship. The Lord really showed me that it pays to work according to His plans because I had prayed against interning in Lagos as my family lives in Abuja. Either way, I still don’t know how I …

Mushy conversations, just because!

Hey babe, This love we feel for each other has to be the realest deal. This love has me in tears in front of the entire church congregation. This love wakes me up at odd hours to spend time with you. This love makes me want to share my every moment with you. Thing is, my love is just a minute, imperfect expression of the love that drove you to Calvary. Do you remember that day we fought? That day when I was calling on you so we could have our quiet time but you were no where to be found? That day when I almost didn’t have the will to pray and when I finally mustered the strength, I felt like I was hitting a brick wall. And then we had one of our most candid conversations ever. I remember telling you in a stubborn, matter-of-fact way that even if you chose to change tomorrow and you abandoned me, and I never “felt” your presence, I will never let you go. I remember telling you …

When Jesus Says No

This is the final trio of quoting Pastor Adeboye. My offer still stands, in fact, it is now a plea. Send me your email address, and I will pay for you to receive Open Heavens devotional in your inbox daily.  Today’s quote is about God saying “no” to our requests. There are some requests I have made in my life that God has said “no” to. He says no in order to discipline us, teach us to look to Him for sustenance, or to teach us patience. I pray that as we continue to walk with the Lord, He will help us to discern His voice especially in the dark times, and give us patience to wait for His time. Here is Pastor Adeboye’s quote: There are times God will say “No” to a beautiful request. When this happens, the one asking feels disappointed. But to the One who has all power, there are greater things compared to what is being asked for. In spite of all the prayer efforts you have invested in certain requests, God can …

Cords that cannot be broken

Yesterday, we spoke about Enoch, the man who did not die but was taken into heaven. I too, am wondering how to become like Enoch because honestly, not having to go through death but straight into eternal life with Jesus is probably the beyond amazing! To help us all, today, here is another blurb from pastor Adeboye about cultivating an eternal friendship with God. Do you want to be a friend of God? Then it is time to sit up. It is time to get serious with your salvation. You can’t be a friend of God when you are still tolerating some nonsense in your life, because God cannot behold iniquity. After 24 years of lack of seriousness, God warned Abraham to sit up. No more Lot. No more hanging around with Hagar. There is no one who partners with God and remains the same. They become role models. If you desire a meaningful relationship with God, you can no longer be fooling around with that strange woman. You can no longer be courting that wrong relationship. …

Guess who turned 17?!

Hello friends, please why is the weather so rude? It’s March for Pete’s sake! Anyway, to the main story for today- my little brother turned 17 last month and this post is for him. Dear Miko, (pronounced my-koh), The next year of your life will be marked by important milestones and transitions. You’re graduating secondary school, which means you are eligible to run for president of Nigeria. And by God’s Grace, you’ll leave home to for the next phase of your educational pursuits. Since I like lists, I humbly compiled this one for you. These are nuggets I have gathered thus far, and I hope you abide by them because I really wish someone shared these things with me as explicitly as I am about to! 1. God is the one and only one constant in life– Amidst all the change and transitions in this coming year, remember that there is one and only one constant in life. God. He will be with you through the thick and thin. If you find your identity in Him, you will never be …

I Have an Infatuation!

The word of God is described using several metaphors. It is a double edged sword, it is fire and it is a hammer that can break a rock in pieces. The Bible admonishes us to keep the Word of God always on our lips, and to meditate upon it day and night. Since we cannot meditate on something we do not know, we are required to literally devour our Bibles– eat, chew, digest the word of God. Let it live and breathe in you and watch God do wonders in your life. Without further ado, here is some scripture that is currently rocking my world: Seest thou a man diligent in his work, he will stand before kings and not mean men. Proverbs 22:29 This proverb reminds us of the blessings of diligence. The Lord loves those who work hard to multiply the gifts and talents He has blessed them with. This is especially comforting to students as excellence in school work demands exceptional motivation. Hold fast friend! You will stand before kings, you will be the envy of nations, you will be …

Keep Waiting- Do not create counterfeits!

I saw the quote below on Heather Lindsey’s blog. Heather is a minister, and she and her husband are Pastors of The Gathering Oasis Church. You can name it, claim it, throw money at it, dance around it, scream, shout and wiggle but if it ain’t time for God to open up that door, you may be SO focused on that area that the enemy sends you a counterfeit. That counterfeit will look like God’s best, sound like God’s best, have the best benefits plan & everything will look sparkly & perfect but you will have a little tug in your heart that says.. no. You see, it wasn’t God’s timing for that thing, so you ran ahead of Him & created an Ishmael while ignoring that tug that says no. God’s best in ANY area takes great development, tests to uproot the garbage in you, trusting in the Lord, faith & rest. So, calm your rushed soul. HE has not forgotten about you. -Heather Lindsey I’m not sure why, but I have been really moved by scripture …

WAIT on the Lord- Your appointed time is coming soon!

I read this a few days ago in my devotional. I am currently subscribed to Open Heavens by Pastor Adeboye. It’s a lovely daily devotional- very easy to understand and the daily messages are not too lengthy! I will subscribe for you if you send me your email address. No, really, please send me your email address and I’ll subscribe for you so you don’t have to pay a dime! Moreover, in God’s timetable, there is a time for the fulfillment of prophecy. To be destined for such a glorious position in the agenda of the Almighty God is not a general gift and not by accident. It is usually for a purpose – a divine purpose. When your time of fulfillment of prophecy comes, … God will suspend natural laws and break protocols for your sake. He will make ways for you where there is no way. He will connect you to your destiny-helpers, and your journey to success will be accelerated. – Pastor Adeboye, Open Heavens Hold on, your time of favor is coming! Habakkuk 2: …

Three Things

Hello everyone, I hope you are all well. Fellow East Coast people, I hope the snow isn’t too depressing! For today, I would like to share three things that have been on my mind for a while- emotional pain, blogging, and 50 Shades of Grey. 1. Moriah– I started a blog when I turned 18 two years ago. Somewhere along the line, I became convicted that I wasn’t ready to blog, so I deleted the site. That’s how serious I have always intended to take a blog whenever I did start one. Barely a month into launching this new blog, I am already running out of ideas.
