Streams and The Spirit

Hello everyone!

First, apologies on not responding to comments individually as I liked to do in the past. Now I literally blog while I have time during the work day, so I post and vanish till the next time I want to post. But I read every comment, and I’m deeply grateful for your love and support.

Over the weekend, I read a scripture that moved me immensely. I was lying on my bed talking to God, telling Him that I feel a little thirsty in my spirit. Like, I was longing to spend time with Him, but I had been so tired, and making unwise choices (like watching late night movies haha) so I hadn’t been able to wake up and spend time with Him in the morning, as I love to.

And then, somehow, I came across Isaiah 44: 1-4

“But now listen, Jacob, my servant,

   Israel, whom I have chosen.

2 This is what the Lord says—

he who made you, who formed you in the womb,

   and who will help you:

Do not be afraid, Jacob, my servant,

   Jeshurun, whom I have chosen.

3 For I will pour water on the thirsty land,

   and streams on the dry ground;

I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring,

and my blessing on your descendants.

4 They will spring up like grass in a meadow,

like poplar trees by flowing streams.

I almost jumped out of my skin when I read that scripture. It was written just for me. The Lord was showing me exactly what I needed to read. He will not only pour water on me, but He will pour out His spirit on me, and I will bear fruit.

I don’t know if someone needs this message today, or if I’m the only one feeling like I could be a little more robust in my spiritual life and so on. But if this is a message you need to hear, I want you to know that God has not forgotten about you. He will fill your heart with all the love and joy that you need to live abundantly. Remember that the bible says that He always, always causes us to triumph.

That said, I wish you all a wonderful week ahead, and I want you to you to bask in God’s love today.

One, you are making me begin to read again the way I did 37years ago in university year one. Your writings all surprise me because I can’t predict what you would write next. Like Jacob was told me, I have started seeing the fruits of the fields which God watered long ago. Else how could it be that I still sit in the abode of the cash cow of my ‘fantastically corrupt country’ where not having a kinsman in the government’s inner circle is already a compound, mortal sin?

I thank God for watering my dry ground albeit how little I even prayed to Him all along! Methink I am the miracle of today.. else how would I ever talk of ‘abroad’ in my house as someone from the dungeon called my area? I am a miracle!.

    • It’s wonderful for you to reading again. Please read much more than my blog haha. Did you know that reading actually makes us kinder? It not only has mental and intellectual benefits, it also has emotional ones as well. How wonderful!

God bless you for sharing Alheri. One part in that scripture that stands out to me is the blessings on our offspring and descendants. It’s amazing to know that when God is dealing with us now, He is also thinking of those coming after us. He cares for us beyond ourselves. His interventions and blessings transcend our lifetime and generation. Maybe maybe, why God is crazy about some of us now is cos He cannot afford not to pour out His Spirit and release His blessing on someone down the line, not yet born. I’m just saying. But one thing we can be sure of is our God is big, He’s faithful, He’s caring and He is very very good!
