Bad Poetry and Flash Fiction

Hello everyone,

I hope your Monday is going well. Mine is, and I’m quite excited about what the next few weeks hold for me. 😀

Yesterday we spoke about food and as promised, I’m keeping up with yesterday’s topic on food. But not just yet. I also wrote about the tiny family rituals I have surrounding food and why food for me is much more than physical, but also is of cultural and traditional significance.

You can check the post out here.

Today I want to try something a little bit different. I wrote a really bad poem that I’m not ashamed to share. 🙂 I shared one before, but this new one was forced haha.

The poem is about trying to write a poem but writing a really bad one.

When you want to write a poem but have no inspiration

You write random things and hope they capture your aspirations

Take heart, they say, it’s okay to just write

No mind whether it’s really bad or genius in a bite

Every poem after this will be better

Someday soon, your words will drip creativity to the letter

This thing called fiction, though

Who’s to say when it’s good to go?

When my sensibilities are different from yours

And better work doesn’t always mean more

Sometimes holding back is what makes a piece exceptional

Lest we write ourselves delusional

Go on, shamelessly share your work on the blog

Hope that none of your readers pulls the plug

Don’t worry honey, you’re improving, working and reworking

Hope your one true love will one day bring home the buck

And that the ovation at the end will astound your doubters

I also wrote a 50-word piece. It’s quite fun because I had to write and rewrite several times. I hope you enjoy it and give it a try sometime.

Sleepy and groggy eyes squash all desire. Wake, pray, slay, they say. Much easier said than done. Depression turns her blue skies grey, and her yellow sunrays to the dreary brown of the earth. A beep. Hushed tones, a brief exchange. The sun shines through the blinds. Her spark returns.

That’s it friends. Brace yourselves for bad poetry for a while. But remember that there is always light at the end of the tunnel. God’s blessings for you are reserved.

Also, I just got 100 followers on WordPress. Thank you friends, YOU ALL ROCK!

Keep cheesing, and sprinkle your special glitter wherever you go.
