I wrote a poem!

Hello friends,

How are you all doing?

I hope you’re having a lovely lovely Friday evening.

Today, I would like to share a vey short poem I wrote for my creative writing class. I haven’t written a poem in about 6 years, so this was a very scary experience.

The poem is simple, really. I’m really proud of myself for taking the plunge and writing (I had to, it was an assignment). But I’m even more proud of myself for sharing.

Please clap for me! 😀 😀 😀

Without further ado, here is the poem. There’s a short analysis at the end of the poem, so please gather your own thoughts and opinions on the poem and be ready to share them in the comments below 🙂

The Boy and the Tree

He was a mother’s pet, a father’s pride

A fine face, a kind heart

Haunted by the mighty gmelina tree

Its leaves the size of a man’s face

A sneeze here, a wheeze there

From the winds and into his dreams

Leaves suffocating a face

Sleepless nights and scary dreams

Tighten their grip around his neck

A sad tear

A quiver in the knees

One visit from a chainsaw and a tractor

And years of Gmelina secrets and mysteries lay naked on the ground

Large leaves shrivel before his eyes

And the thing around his neck loosens its grip

I wanted to write something very simple that had to do with childhood fear. This poem, I think, does that. It’s about a young boy, who is afraid of the gmelina tree in his backyard. What do you think? Is it a nice poem? Do I get a pass mark? Surely, I can do better? Have you tried writing poetry before? Let me know in the comments section.

I hope you enjoyed my little cute poem. If you’re up to the challenge, write one and share with me. Till next time, bask in the love of Jesus ❤ ❤ ❤
